The Really
Terrible Orchestra Of the Triangle (RTOOT)
Composer-in-Residence
The
Really Terrible Orchestra Of the Triangle (RTOOT) is pleased to
announce the signing of
Enrique Varela, Jr., as
Composer-in-Residence. Sr. Varela has worked at Icarus Studios LLC,
(www.icarusstudios.com), a multimedia
and virtual works company in the Triangle that produces serious
games ... an oxymoron if there ever was one. Sr. Varela's major
influences, as a composer, include Johann Sebastian Bach
(no-brainer), Ralph Vaughan Williams, Claude Debussy, Gustav Holst,
Igor Stravinsky, and Nobuo
Uematsu (see www.nobuouematsu.com).
We believe ourselves to be the only
civic
orchestra in the
triangle with a resident composer!

Enrique Varela, Composter-in-Residence
Our first
collaboration will be a piece for Really Terrible Orchestra and
Audience Participation Celfone Ensemble, to be presented in an
upcoming concert.
Sr. Varela was born in Caracas, Venezuela, and has lived in the US
for the past 24 years. He is a graduate (2004) of the University of
North Carollina at Chapel Hill, and studied composition there with
Allen Anderson.
