The Really
Terrible Orchestra Of the Triangle (RTOOT)
who
are we? -- Percussion section
Shawn Richards, being the
percussionist with the mostest, is our principal
percussionist. She is our
timpanist, even though neither Shawn nor The Really Terrible
Orchestra Of the Triangle (RTOOT) owns a set of timpani. As we say,
when you’re really terrible, you have to be extremely flexible. She
will be playing a set of inverted garbage cans (one large, one
small) until this deficiency is somehow
addressed.
Cameron Price, eminent film
auteur with the 301 films collective (301films.com) will be
playing drumkit. Cameron also is working in film at Vis-Art video
rental. Real
claim to fame:
writing screenplay and producing the movie “Fast Freddie
Fantastic”, in which Mr. Hobgood played a leading role.
Josh
Zaslow, in addition to
claiming a spot as our Resident Didgeridooist, also plays in our
percussion section.
The percussion section is unique in that it features a set of
Italian cowbells, played by
Sr. Francesco Spinillo, who hails from
the tiny hamlet of St. Arsenio, Italy. Francesco came to the US as
a teen and his family settled in Jersey City. Currently, he lives
in the farming community of Eli Whitney, NC and is therefore quite
appropriately suited to play the cowbells. If you read Italian, see
our guestbook where Sr. Spinillo explains (we think, since he
speaks no English) how delighted he is to be a member of
RTOOT.
We put her in the percussion section out of expedience, but
Barbara Leder fills many roles
in The Really Terrible Orchestra Of the Triangle (RTOOT). She is
our keyboardist, using the Yamaha S80 synthesizer to represent
instruments that we don’t have. When you’re really terrible, you
have to be extremely flexible. The orchestra, not
Barbara.
